Eclectically Ever After

by Michelle Drewek

It was in cyberspace—more specifically MySpace—where Nate and Noel’s love story began. As Nate recalls, a “cute girl ‘friended’ him” one day, and after reading more about her in her profile he became intrigued. Noel originally came across his page while listening to music, and decided to check out the “cute guy with the guitar” by looking up his personal page.

“I saw that he had read ‘River God’ by Wilbur Smith, a historical fiction that we both love,” Noel reminisces. “I sent him a message about the novel and we began to correspond. I fell for his perfect grammar and thoughtful wit before we had even met!”

The two had their first date at Paddy’s Pub in Milwaukee, which went so well that it turned into the next several nights of hanging out, which then turned into the next five years of adventures together.

On their 5-year anniversary, Nate and Noel took a trip to San Francisco. Nate’s tensions were high as he tried to figure out the best time to propose. He wanted it to be perfect and that ideal moment finally came on a gorgeous fall day at the Japanese Tea Garden in Golden Gate Park.

“I don’t remember my exact words, but I said something to the effect of how much I loved her and loved going on adventures with her, and would she marry me?” Nate remembers.  “She said ‘Yes!’ and next was a flurry of tears, kisses and hugs as the onlookers smiled and applauded.”

Over the next year and a half, the adventurous duo planned their dream wedding. Their distinct vision took on life at the beautiful historic Pritzlaff Building. Nate describes the feeling they wanted to encompass, and how Dynamic Events by David Caruso and Belle Fiori Ltd. made it happen.

“My vision for the wedding was a concept of vibrant growth juxtaposed within the sort of urban, distressed space. It’s an unexpected thing to enter this old building and see so much greenery and foliage. We opted for a lot of lush, living greenery…I wanted it to be like something was coming alive inside this very rugged, industrial structure.”

It was important for them to include as many people as possible during their ceremony, and extend the wedding party beyond the 12 friends and family who were “standing up.” Noel details everyone’s unique involvement.

“Nate’s brother-in-law, Sean, and my good friend, Theresa, married us and led the ceremony. My mother and Nate’s sister provided short readings, and our friends Jason and Rob played piano and guitar, as well as sung for the ceremony music. Our Boston Terrier, Sir Remington Steele, was also in the wedding party as our ring bearer. He even had his own tuxedo!”

After Sean and Theresa pronounced them husband and wife, the newlyweds treated their guests to the gentle strumming of a gypsy jazz quarter during the cocktail hour, and followed their libations with a delicious dining experience.

“We wanted to represent the creativity and talent currently blooming in the Milwaukee ‘foodie’ community,” Noel explains.  Working closely with Brocach Catering, the custom designed menu of small plates was perfectly executed by the Brocach staff and absolutely fulfilled their wedding dinner vision.

After their mouthwatering dinner the night continued with another round of live music, their wedding day must-have. Noel says that was a non-negotiable and that they felt strongly about having live music throughout the entire day. In that spirit, We Unity Candle rocked as they all danced the remainder of the night away.

As they think back on every detail that went into the day, Nate and Noel agree that their wedding planning team was integral in making their wedding dreams a reality.

“Our wedding would not have been possible without Dynamic Events by David Caruso and all of the personal care, creativity, perfectionism and love brought to making the day absolutely about us and everyone who is so precious to us,” Noel gushes.

“The day is about you and your future husband or wife. Perfection is not a goal; you will remember the love and beauty of being surrounded by friends and family the most.”
