“It is an absolute honor to document the emotion of two people’s love. I
provide them with the lasting images of their special day; once the day is
done and the champagne and cake are gone, the flowers die, the dress is
packed away, and the guests are gone, all you have are your photos!” This
sums up the passion behind Jennifer Johnson, of Jennifer Johnson
Photography, and her desire to capture all the details, excitement and joy
of your wedding day.
Though Jennifer has been photographing weddings for eight years, the
creative energy she brings to the craft started long ago. “Growing up I
wanted to be a fashion designer. I would buy bridal magazines when I was
twelve to get inspiration to design bridal gowns.” Jennifer officially
fell in love with the wedding industry while working with her sister, Amy
Johnson of One Fine Day Productions. Weddings became the perfect event for
her photography and creativity to combine.
Taking candids at family and friends weddings taught Jennifer that she had a
knack and an eye for the visual moments happening. at the big events. “My
favorite part about being a photographer is getting to share my point of
view with the world,” she explains. “I strive to be different while at
the same time giving the brides what they want….I just love capturing the
moments and details in a creative and unique way.”
With a blend of fashion forward and photojournalism styles, Jennifer has
created a look that is modern vintage. With that, Jennifer offers a piece
of advice to all brides looking to book a wedding photographer. “You must
be absolutely in love with the artist’s work and realize that it is an
investment. You must also realize that as your photographer, I am your new
best friend the day of the wedding because I am there from start to
finish.”
With that advice, Jennifer also has created a photo-taking style that keeps
her unobtrusive throughout the day, while taking control when necessary.
Her eye captures moments that come alive forever through her lens. “When
the bride finishes dressing, there is this amazing energy change in the
room,” she reveals. “The fantasy finally all becomes real. Also, I
love when the bride and groom see each other for the first time.”
Jennifer keeps her eyes on different upcoming trends in the photography
industry as well, so that her couples can be sure they are getting fresh
ideas. She offers what is called “Fusion Work” which is a unique blend
of HD video or vintage 8mm film and still images. Often used for
‘save-the-date’ videos, she creates little mini movies customized to a
bride and groom, who often send out the video via email or online to their
web-savvy guests. These have become very popular and serve as a
“commercial” for the upcoming wedding.
In the end, Jennifer’s clients are simply happy with the fact that they
personally know their photographer, and what to expect from both the day-of
experience and final edits. Jennifer recognizes this underlying
expectation, and states firmly, “I am Jennifer Johnson Photography; when
you book JJP, you will get me ALWAYS.” And her eye and passion behind the
camera is exactly what makes Jennifer capture your day in all of it’s joy
and love.
